PAIN INTO PURPOSE

2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in [a]any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are [b]ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.

This past week for many of us writers has been one of extremes.  Getting things accomplished and going through some very painful moments of life.  It could be a bedside vigil, an unexpected operation, a middle of the night phone call, anniversaries of a tragedy or death, a child missing...all are moments of extreme pain.

As we journal, or remember these events in the future how will we allow God to use these moments for His glory.

As a writer, and a therapist I suggest to all who with an active spiritual life that God will allow us to use these trials for the benefit of someone who could be struggling without the same support, depth of spiritual connection or any other combination of life challenges.

My first book, A Simple Spirituality, is the journey of my simple faith through a lifetime of challenges.  Most of the challenges are not explicitly named, but I have seen God use this book again and again in dark moments of others lives to encourage them and bring them to a deeper understanding of His presence love and comfort.

Be present in your pain, engage fully God and your human tears, anger, confusion.  Let it brew spiritually and ask God how and where it should be used.

Blessings on your journey today.
